about the ReCycling Tour 2021
Manu Delago has performed in prestigious venues in more than 50 countries around the world. The Grammy nominated artist runs his own band, has collaborated with various artists such as Björk, Anoushka Shankar or Olafur Arnalds and has appeared as a soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra. „The intense travels by air and bus around the world have made me think about how I can contribute to sustainability and give something back to nature. This gave rise to the idea of developing an environmentally friendly counterpart to conventional concert tours," Manu Delago explains the motivation behind the project.

To keep the lowest possible CO2 footprint the entire tour was done by bicycle. All musical instruments and the required equipment for the live performances were transported in specially built bicycle trailers. The travel party of six crew members generated electricity using solar panels.

For catering on the road, the crew used their own snack boxes, which were filled daily with homemade food from local fans and concert visitors. The aim was to have no single-use plastic in the backstage catering or in the public area of the concerts and operate as waste-free as possible. To share the experience with the audiences, people were encouraged to cycle or walk to the concert venues. If it was too far, audiences should take public transport rather than drive.

"My goal is to inspire as many people as possible worldwide, besides the music industry, to pursue a sustainable lifestyle," says Manu Delago. The musician also published a daily video blog. Both as a tour diary and with current facts and recommendations on sustainability and environmental protection.
